My biggest regret was being ranked in the top 2% of my class.

Wanna know what my biggest regret in high school was?

Being ranked in the top 2% of my class. 

Yep, you read that right. 

Sure, being ranked 12 out of 900 had its benefits, but real talk.. There's no difference between 12 and 24. Or 12 and 48. 

All you need for auto admission to get into the University of Texas is to be in the top 6%. 

All those ranks I listed get you TO the door, but what opens it? Making an IMPACT. 

More importantly, making an IMPACT on your community by being yourself. 

So many of us chase after the shiniest thing -- because everyone else is -- that we lose sight of what WE are most good at. And that's a competition that you will always win. 

I didn't start early enough, but I did START, and that's the more important thing.

Don't let a perfect GPA keep you from losing yourself in the process.

But when our schools are teaching obsolete things, oftentimes, AI is only being considered to enhance the learning of those obsolete things.

FYI: This is NOT how we should be approaching AI in education.

The bottom line? 

Most schools haven’t paused to ask: “Shouldn’t we be teaching DIFFERENT things?” 

Jon Stewart may have given us a pulse of how most people feel about AI taking millions of jobs this past month… 

But he MISSED that students equipped with AI skills will be in great shape.

THIS is the message that needs to reach our schools.

We can shift the paradigm around education but it has to start with parents and it has to start now.
